My 9-year old son came home from school today, and casually mentioned he would spend some time with God out on the trampoline. My heart fluttered in excitement. It’s not often that he takes such initiative spiritually. But wondering if there was more than met the ear, I probed a little.
He replied that his friends were doing it, and he was feeling out.
Hmmm…
Could the vibrant God-relationship that I wish and pray for Matthew be reduced to a guilt trip, or even worse, a popularity trip!?
Should I encourage any connection with God, no matter the motive?
